Class Announcements SOCIAL STUDIESWe are currently reviewing the American Southeast and have started our next region of study: the American Midwest. We will focus on key political features, physical and climatic characteristics, natural resources, economics of the region, population, and life today in the American Midwest.
SCIENCEIn science we are studying matter. We will focus on atoms, elements, molecules, compounds, mixtures, solutions, and the effects of heat on the different states of matter. We look forward to the many experiments ahead!
LANGUAGE ARTSIn language arts, we are continuing to work on our National Geographic Magazines. Each group has picked a research theme. Within this theme, each student is responsible for researching, writing, editing, and publishing their own article. All articles within each group will help to create their own National Geographic Magazine. Each magazine will even have its own cover page, table of contents, pictures, and glossary! They are very excited about their research, and I can't wait to see the end results.
MATHOur newest unit in Math is Geometry. We will be focusing on angles, triangles, polygons, perimeter, area, congruent/similar, symmetry, transformations, circles, and solid geometric shapes. In our study of measuring angles, the students will get the chance to master the use of a protractor. They are very excited to start using this new mathematical tool.
Knitting and Crocheting ClubOur knitting and crocheting club is growing strong! We meet ever Friday at lunchtime in the classroom. Every other Monday, we welcome Mrs. Hockaday (Natalie's mom) to help us through the adventures of crocheting. We also welcome Hannah's grandma to add her expertise. Good job class! I am looking forward to seeing all of our wonderful crafts. Hats and scarves are on the way! :)
Quality StudentHunter Riddle is our first quality student of this school year! Hunter is a quality student for always coming to class prepared, coming to closure on assignments on time, and always willing to lend a hand. He is quite an asset to our team. Great job!
